It's a shame it wasn't around when I needed it. Not everyone has a chance to show off their first website. And in 2005, that became the case.
It was during this time, I learned HTML, then learned about blogging in 2001. Yahoo! trashed the website in 2002, and I tried using another website called TopCities, which went out of buisness taking whatever work I had there with it. By 2005, the website was dead as Yahoo! (in their infinite wisdom of cutting costs) deleted everything right down to the Midi File of Incubus' Pardon Me embeded on the page and playing in somewhat of a MIDI saxophone. Unfortunately, the Wayback Machine does not archive these pages.
Geocities could be called the last of its kind. As Sites like Angelfire, Tripod, and Xoom faded away.
I can hardly believe it has been ten years. The internet has matured drasitcally. As have cell phones and computers.
Yahoo! came to GeoCities, and burned it down like Sherman in Atlanta.
Hopefully the Web 2.0 stuff doesn't end out they same way.
